0VER 70, 000 PEOPLE TO BENEFIT FROM WATER PROJECT.

ChildFund Zambia has announced that More than 73 thousand families in Mumbwa, Shibuyunji and Nyimba districts will have access to clean water sources through its project.

Organization Director in charge of Programs and Sponsorship Doras Chirwa says the districts will also access basic information on water treatment and safe storage to avoid contamination.

“ChildFund Zambia has received a total of $ 237,220 to provide clean and safe water for families that depend on shallow wells and contaminated streams for their water needs, a total of 73, 926 families in Mumbwa, Shibuyunji and Nyimba districts will now have access to clean water sources and basic information on water treatment and safe storage to avoid contamination”, she said.

She said in a statement availed to  one love radio news that the organizations has received a total of $ 237,220 to provide clean and safe water for families that depend on shallow wells and contaminated streams for their water needs, further stating that this will be done over a period of one year.

Ms. Chirwa announced that the project being funded by Procter and Gamble will help children in the three districts to have access to clean and safe water as close to their homes as possible.

“Working with other stakeholders like the Ministries of Education, Health and Community Development, ChildFund will also ensure that all the communities and schools have adequate protected water sources by December 2023 when the project comes to an end, ChildFund believes that clean water along with decent sanitation and hygiene are very effective in reducing poverty, It can help save lives, drive economic growth, keep children in school and increase opportunities for women and girls, she further explained.
