3 HEALTH WORKERS ARRESTED.

The Anti-Corruption Commission ACC has arrested and charged three (3) Ministry of Health workers in Southern Province for corruption involving K40, 000.00.

According to a statement issued by ACC Head- Corporate Communications Timothy Moono, those arrested are Clement Tembo 49, of Bwacha Compound in Kalomo District, an Assistant Accountant at Kalomo District Health Office, Wilford Siamufunde 42, of Riverside in Choma, a Senior Health Promotional Officer at Southern Provincial Health Office and Mundia Muhau 44, of New Houses in Namwala among others.

The trio have been jointly charged with one (1) count of Corrupt Practices by Public Officers Contrary to Section 19(1) as read with Section 41 of the Anti-Corruption Act No.3 of 2012 of the Laws of Zambia.

“Details are that on dates unknown but between 1st January, 2020 and 31st December, 2020 in Namwala District, Clement Tembo, Willford Siamufunde and Mundia Muhau being public officers, namely Assistant Accountant, Public Health Officer, Purchasing and Supplies Assistant respectively at Namwala District Health Office, did engage in corrupt practices by soliciting and receiving K40, 000.00 cash gratification from Jonathan Zuhuli as an inducement or reward for them to facilitate the award of the contract worth K300,735.00 to supply building materials to Nicekel General Dealers, a matter or transaction concerning the Namwala District Health Office, a Public Body.”
