50 JUNKIES IN LUSAKA ARRESTED.

The Police Patrol Team in Lusaka’s Makeni area have arrested three armed suspected criminals after intercepting their unregistered Toyota IST.

In a statement availed to the media Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale said around 01:00 hours in the morning, Police recovered a Pistol, 28 rounds of ammunitions and several house and motor vehicle breaking instruments from the suspects.

Mr. Mwale said the suspects have been identified as Kenneth Makina aged 34 of Monze District, Alfred Mendai aged 35 of Lilayi area and Robbie Banda aged 36 of Jack compound.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mwale also said two people of Matero township in Lusaka were arrested after they were found with laptops that were reported to have been stolen after criminals broke into a house in Roma area.

During interrogations, the two claimed to have bought the items from the Tanzanian nationals.

“Police instituted investigations which led to the arrest of four Tanzanians who after interrogations have been detained in Police custody together with the two Zambians,” he said.

In a similar development 50 junkies aged between 16 and 50 including four females have been arrested.

The junkies were nabbed after Zambia Police officers working together with members of the Community Crime Prevention Unit conducted a quick impact operation covering M’tendere East and Kalikiliki compounds in Lusaka.

 The operation started around 17:00 hours and ended at around 21:00 hours.

Five were found with suspected cannabis and will be handed over to the Drug Enforcement Commission while the rest have been detained for Idle and Disorderly.
