A 60-year-old man of Chainda compound in Lusaka has been arrested for Incest involving his granddaughter aged 11.
Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale said Police investigations revealed that the suspect has been having carnal knowledge of the Grade five pupil at different occasions between unknown dates in 2023 and March 23, 2024 around 11:00 hours when he was caught in the act by a concerned neighbor.
he said, it was further revealed that the abuse used to happen before the girl goes to school.
“It is alleged that the mother and other family members leave home early leaving the daughter with her grandfather alone at home,” he said.
In a similar and sad development another 13-year-old girl was defiled by a 59-year-old man in Chirundu District.
Mr. Mwale said investigations revealed that the incident occurred on the 26th of March 2024 around 06:30 where the victim was ambushed on her way to the garden near the Kafue River.
He said that Police together with social welfare officers rushed to the scene of the incident and arrested the suspect.
