CESCO REMAINS OPTIMISTIC OF MITIGATING PLASTIC PRODUCTION.

Citizen’s Environmental and Social Concern (CESCo) has revealed its engagement with the government in regards to mitigating plastic production in the country.

CESCo executive director, Conwell Hakapya said plastic is a big problem that is bad for the environment and climate change at large.

He said there is need for a proper Statutory instrument SI that will see to it that producers are made responsible for their plastic work from production to disposal or recycling, thus enhancing the extended producer responsibility regulations in Zambia.

Mr. Hakapya in an interview with One Love Radio further said he remains optimistic that some regulations will be changed and enhanced through the environmental management act that the cabinet resolved to amend.

“We hope that some regulations will be changed and enhanced through the Environmental Management Act that the cabinet resolved to amend,” he said.
