ChildFund Zambia through Mumbwa Child development agency has donated Covid 19 prevention materials worth over 170 thousand kwacha to schools and health facilities.
The donated items include infra-red thermometers, hand washing facilities, chlorine, soaps and radios to sensitize people on Covid 19 and best child care services.
Speaking at the handover ceremony Mumbwa District Commissioner Pamela Kalenga Chipongwe has recommended ChildFund and Mumbwa child development agency for their commitment to end Covid 19 in the area and ensuring that non examination pupils are home schooled through working with teachers and headmen as well as the radio programmes.
She has said that the organisation has been key in equipping isolation centers with needed materials and PPEs for health personnel’s.She has also recommended the organisation for empowering pupils with skills in making hand washing facilities.
And a representative from the Mumbwa District Education board Elvis Muzinga says the organisations have provided necessities that they have failed to procure for their schools
He has added that schools in the District have not had enough materials especially for primary schools hence the donated items will go a long way.And Representative from the ministry of health has stated that ChildFund is working hand in hand with government to ensure the Covid 19 cases don’t exceed from the 3 recorded cases.He has pledged to put the items to good use.
And Mumbwa child development agency Chief Executive officer has revealed that the organisation is also ensuring child nutrition through distribution of mealie meal and other food stuffs and providing families with livestock for economic welfare as the economy has been weakened by the pandemic.
She has added that in its fight against Covid 19 the association through ChildFund has equipped health centers and schools and the councils with materials and resources to stop the spread of Covid 19.
