The Council of Churches in Zambia CCZ says the rising cases of abortions among youths is a matter of concern.
Speaking to One Love Radio News, CCZ secretary General Fr. Emmanuel Chikoya said such cases call for enhanced programing by different sectors of society to help provide relevant tools and information to curb the act.
Fr. Chikoya explained that early pregnancy comes with a cost and has further emphasized the need for young people to stop indulging in activities that would lead them into aborting.
“Young people out there avoid making decisions that will have consequences for you. We really need to up our game as a church and other stakeholders to provide relevant tools and information,” he said.
Recently a 16 year old grade nine pupil in kaoma district died after attempting to terminate a one month old pregnancy.
