Reacting to the recent increment in bus fares in which members of the public have questioned, what criteria is used to arrive at the decision to increase or reduce bus fares association National Secretary Sydney Mbewe said bus fares are determined using the Energy Regulation Board fuel pump monthly reviews.
He stated that the formula is systematic and not random in nature as stakeholders involved agree on the finale decision.
“The current mode of determining those fares is now based on the formula that was developed by the Bus and Taxi Owners Association of Zambia and submitted to the Road Transport and Safety Agency RTSA for review and was agreed as a working formula,” he said.
