Civil Society Scaling up Nutrition Alliance Zambia (CSO-SUN) has called on government to look into the hunger issue predicted in Eastern province.
CSO-SUN country coordinator MATHEWS MHURU told one love radio news in an interview that government should put in place a plan to restore the livelihoods of people affected with hunger in the province and even other areas in Zambia.
He said the anticipated hunger that has been caused by delayed supply of farming inputs, delayed rains and floods should be dealt with relief food and not only relocating the affected by government.
“This is where now we have been advising government, the disaster management unit, that in such situations where flooding becomes the case they need proper plans beyond relocating people to places that are safer but to also look at the lively hood aspect,” he said.
