The Mongu Municipal Council MMC has warned driver’s that have continued to park Heavy vehicles or trucks Central Business District and along major routes which are not designated as packing areas despite council sensitizations. 

Council Public Relations Officer Emmanuel Lupikisha said it has been observed with concern that most truckers park their vehicles in the CBD in mongu and not in areas that have been designated as parking areas. 

Mr. Lupikisha said the vice is a nuisance to the public and has greatly contributed to the damage of road shoulders within the district, hence a penalty fee of 2500 penalty units (K750.00) will be charged for all offenders that park in unauthorized areas. 

“The Local Government Act No. 2 of 2011 mandates the local authority to control traffic and parking of vehicles in the district,” he said.
