Police in Chongwe district Lusaka province have received a report in which a baby has been dumped near a footpath in kakubo villege.
Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale said Police officers rushed to the scene and took the baby girl to Chongwe District Hospital for care and medical attention.
Mr. Mwale further said that investigations instituted reveals that the identity of the mother is Lwendo Chizongo aged 23 of Kakubo village who is alleged to have given birth two weeks ago.
“Police are investigating circumstances that led to the baby being dumped by the mother and a manhunt for the suspect who is on the run has since been launched,” he said.
