Operation Young Vote says the Electoral Commission of Zambia ECZ’s move to undertake facilitating for electronic voting is an impossible move by 2026.
Organization’s Executive director, Guess Nyirenda said ECZ’s move to begin facilitating for electronic voting will be among the various processes it will undertake as part of the electoral reforms between now and 2026 is a long procedure that needs a lot of time.
He said that it is tricky and impossible to reach that target by 2026 as it involves more works.
Mr. Nyirenda further told one love radio news that ECZ needs to be financially ready, have literacy capacity among people and have necessary gadgets for security among others.
“We need to be ready if we need to do that particular type of voting, and there is no way in four years, we are going to raise the capacity beyond 20%,” he said.
