Finance and National Planning Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane has dispelled fears that the International Monetary Fund IMF program will cause employment freeze.
Speaking at a media briefing, Mr. Musokotwane said the approved 1.3 billion US dollars by the IMF is a free interest package which should be paid in five and a half years.
Mr. Musokotwane expressed confidence that the IMF program will help to ensure long term stability on the kwacha which will also help to stabilize prices on goods and services.
He added that restoring fiscal sustainability requires a sustained fiscal adjustment thereby enhancing the efficiency of the agricultural subsidy program, and reducing inefficient public investment.
