Psychologist Kizito Mulewa says the COVID19 has contributed to the increasing number of failed marriages and gender based violence cases.
Mr. Mulewa said in an interview with One Love Radio news, that due to COVID 19, many people lost their jobs and were forced to spend time in their homes, which triggered violence and failure in unstable marriages and relationships.
Psychologist Mulewa further called on the media to help encourage couples to seek counseling from psychologists to fight against the rising cases of divorce and gender based violence.
“Men that used to go patronize bars in the evening ended up staying home, and they didn’t know how people relate, hence they started seeing the wrong things at home which facilitated violence… We encourage men and women to find time to reconnect and couples counselling should be allowed,” he said.
