The Food Reserve Agency (FRA) has paid out one billion, nine hundred and twenty million, eight hundred and seventy six thousand, one hundred and sixty kwacha (K1,920,876,160.00) to farmers that delivered Grade A white maize during this year’s on-going crop-marketing season
The amount is for the total quantity of maize purchased as at 25th September 2023 which is three hundred and forty-three thousand, thirteen point six zero metric tons (343,013.60 MTs).
“Further, following the Agency’s decision to start paying cash on the spot to farmers that supply maize, a total of one thousand, seven hundred and ninety-six point two zero metric tonnes (1,796.20 MTs) has been purchased”.
