The Energy Regulation Board says the objective of the monthly fuel review entails that the price of the commodity is cost reflective.
ERB Public Relations Manager Namukolo Kasumpa said this allows the government to raise the necessary funds to ensure that they is sustainable fuel supply for the Zambian market.
Ms. Kasumpa ,however said that if the kwacha strengthens against the dollar and they is a drop in oil prices at the international market in that month, the savings that will accumulate from that will be passed on to the consumer.
“When pricing fuel in Zambia the performance of two key factors that affect the price of fuel is taken into account, and these two are the international price of the petroleum products and the exchange rate determined by the performance of the Zambian kwacha against the dollar,” she said.
