A member of the public has expressed concern over piles of uncollected garbage left after unblocking of drainages.
The citizen, who preferred to be unknown, said it is unfortunate that the waste that is generated as a result of unblocking of drainages is still left beside the road, posing a health risk.
He has appealed to the local authority to closely monitor companies and those engaged in the cleaning and unblocking of drainages to avoid the recurrence of the same problem especially during the rainy season.
Meanwhile, When contacted for a comment, Lusaka City Council Public Relations Officer Maston Moonze said the council is disappointed that companies that have been engaged to collect garbage do not do the work diligently.
βThe council is disappointed that some companies that have been engaged to collect garbage do not do the work diligently,β he said.
Mr. Moonze however cautioned the garbage collectors and drainage cleaners engaged by the local authority to help the authority to do the work that is required of them.
