Presidential Spokesperson Anthony Bwalya has justified government’s delay in supplying medicines and fertilizer among other things on time.
Mr. Bwalya told One Love Radio in an interview that the delay is due to the difficult process of cleaning up the corruption that was involved in the procurement of medicines and fertilizer.
He said Zambians were losing money unnecessarily due to corrupt and expensive prices, for supply contracts of fertilizer and medicines.
Mr. Bwalya further said after the processes government has managed to save to about 144 Million Dollars, which has been channeled to the many critical government programs, such as the free education, the CDF and the payroll for civil servants recently employed among others.
“The reason we are working hard to save and make the kind of savings we have been able to make in the agriculture sector, is so we can fund on a continuous basis the many government programs necessary that our people need us to fund,” he said.
