Government has reiterated its mandate to promote the development and growth of small medium enterprises in Zambia.
Officiating at the Zambia Association of Manufacturer’s micro-SME training workshop in Lusaka today, Minister of Small and Medium enterprise development Eng. Elias Mubanga said the government is aware that micro-SMEs in the country face many problems such as knowledge gap on entrepreneurship skills, limited access to markets among others, in their efforts to set up and grow businesses hence the aim to create employment and poverty reduction is hindered.
The Minister further expressed gratitude in seeing that ZAM has taken steps of working with the government to actualize governments focus on Micro SMEs and has further urged the trainees to take the opportunity seriously in order to grow and sustain business.
“It is important that you take this opportunity with serious commitment as this will provide you with knowledge that will help you grow and sustain your businesses,” he said.
Meanwhile, speaking at the same event ZAM trustee Mercy Mukupa said, the aim of the workshop is to equip SMEs that were present with the necessary skills and knowledge on how to grow their business and prepare them for international competition to reduce dependency on imported products.
