Small Scale Farmers Development Agency SAFADA has called on the government to put up measures that will ensure that farmers are educated on agriculture science and technology
SAFADA Executive Director Boyd Moobwe said this is necessary so as to avoid land degradation.
He noted the need for farmers to get knowledge, skills and information on soils in their region and avoid shifting cultivation as it has long term implications to the environment
Reacting to Chief Fwambo’ s call to educate farmers on crop rotation in his area due to land degradation .Mr. Moobwe further advised farmers to use products such as Agaso, which help improve the soil texture, structure.
“Farmers in Zambia generally speaking are lacking agriculture science knowledge, they don’t know exactly what happens when the land is degraded, so in this case they need sensitization,” he said.
