Chainda School Representative Faustina Kapumpa has appealed to government to ensure that girls are involved in decision making so as to improve their lives and health.
Speaking during a dialogue meeting to mark 2020 International Day of a Girl Child Ms. Kapumpa says despite that efforts are being made at various levels to improve lives they cannot be fruitful if girls themselves are not at the center of those efforts hence need for inclusiveness.
She adds that as girls they also need to be equipped with knowledge so as to participate effectively and contribute to the efforts being made to improve their lives.
Speaking during the same meeting Chongwe District Commissioner Robert Mwanza urged girls to abstain from sex and concentrate on education to avoid teenage pregnancies which will see many drop out of school.
Mr. Mwanza has however expressed sadness at the luck of desks in some schools in Chongwe.
He says the luck of desks will soon be a thing of the past as government has started going round distributing desks in all the schools that are lacking to enable a conducive learning environment for children as they are the future leaders of tomorrow.
