United Party for National Development (UPND) spokesperson, Cornelius Mweetwa has expressed concern over continued accusations by the opposition political parties, alleging that government is responsible for prolonged detention of former PF deputy secretary general, Mumbi Phiri.
Speaking at a media briefing in Lusaka, Mr. Mweetwa alleged that Ms. Phiri shared a video in which she expressed full knowledge of Mr. Lawrence Banda’s killer who was a member of the UPND.
Mr. Mweetwa added that the party sympathizes with Ms Phiri, but that there are a lot of cases like that of Ms Phiri in which the accused have been detained longer without trial and are still in detention.
“The party denies the allegations that President Hichilema is responsible for the prolonged dentation of Ms Phiri but that he wants the rule of law to take it’s course,” he stated.
