Kamwala Ward Councilor in Lusaka Mainda Simataa has expressed gratitude to President Hakainde Hichilema and his team on their visit to Kamwala Ward 5 yesterday to appreciate the impact of floods being endured by residents, and the current mitigation measures underway.
Speaking in a statement availed to the media Mr. Simataa also acknowledge the Zambia national service ZNS for their continuous presence and work in the ward.
He stated that the continuous presence of ZNS in the area has seen critical drainages dug, which has resulted in deflooding of numerous households, including Kamwala South Health Post whose operations have been disrupted.
The Civic Leader further appreciated the Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit DMMU for providing fuel and pumps which have continued to patrol the ward and pumping out water in several critical flood spots among others.
“DMMU has been on hand to provide fuel and pumps which have continued to patrol the ward and pumping out water in several critical flood spots, and procuring of PVC pipes to assist Lusaka water repair broken water pipes resulting from excavation works,” he said.
