Government has called on Media practitioners to make collaborative efforts in the fight against corruption.
Speaking during the commemoration of the world press Freedom Day Minister of Information and Media Chushi kasanda said world press Freedom Day is an opportunity to celebrate the fundamental principles of press freedom.
Ms. Kasanda said the theme focused on Shaping the Future of Rights: Freedom of expression, as a Driver for all other Human Rights Promoting Environmental Causes is important in the promotion of women’s rights and children’s rights among others.
She reminded the media to use such occasions as the World Press Freedom Day celebrations to defend the media from attacks on their independence.
The Minister noted that the theme speaks to among other things, the important linkages between freedom of expression and other rights as well as promote ideas on how to protect press freedom, reaffirm the vital importance of freedom of expression and shape a future where human rights are at the center of decision making at all levels.
