Some residents in Mongu district of western province have expressed happiness on the ongoing preparations ahead of the kuomboka ceremony.
For the past three years the kuomboka ceremony has not taken place due to low water levels in the Barotse plains, hence residents remained optimistic that after a long time the ceremony which is slated for the 9th of April 2022 will be held successfully.
The residents also called for security and a peaceful environment as the ceremony approaches.
Meanwhile, Mongu country lodge manager Mr. Mwanawansa said the ceremony is a good opportunity to showcase business, products as well as good accommodation being offered for people coming in.
“It’s a good opportunity and we are here to support the event in any way we can by providing accommodation, and currently a lot of accommodation places are already booked.” he said.
