LCC DEMOLISHES ILLEGAL STRUCTURES IN KALIKILIKI

The Lusaka City Council – LCC- has demolished four (4) makeshift stalls and a wall fence that had encroached on a road reserve in Kalikiliki Compound.

During the demolition exercise that took place yesterday, structures at two car wash businesses were also razed down.

The demolition exercise was undertaken following a tip and complaints from some Kalikiliki residents who raised concerns over some people who had encroached on a road reserve within the area.

Prior to the demolition exercise, the Local Authority through its City Planning Department wrote to the affected owners of the makeshift stalls who unfortunately did not adhere to the caution regarding their illegal structures.
“Residents and business entities are therefore urged to always engage the Council for guidance before undertaking any building activity”.

This is according to a statement issued by LCC Public Relations Officer Nyambe Bulumba
