The Electoral Commission of Zambia ECZ has rejected the nomination of former Kwacha constituency member of Parliament Mr. Joseph Malanji while disqualifying that of former Kabushi lawmaker Mr. Bowman Lusambo from standing as a candidate in Kabushi Constituency respectively citing Article 72(4) of the Constitution.
Malanji who had earlier submitted his nomination papers was informed by the commission that his application was not valid by the Returning Officer.
And speaking to Journalist, Mr. Malanji warned of consequences should ECZ continue to misapply the law.
Meanwhile SACCORD Executive Director Mr. Boniface Cheembe has cautioned ECZ not to politicize the electoral process but instead spearhead the calls of democracy in the country.
Mr. Cheembe said actions by ECZ are likely to cause anarchy which he said is an assort on democracy.
