President Hakainde Hichilema and his Malawian counterpart Lazarus Chakwera have commissioned the k160 million Mchinji-mwami one stop border post in Eastern Province.
Speaking during the commissioning of the border post president Hakainde Hichilema reiterated how vital and significant the border is going to grow the economy of Zambia and Malawi.
“This infrastructure is a fixed cost, but definitely a fixed cost is easier to pay back if we can work on the valuable cost through working and investing together and in doing so, we will grow the Malawian economy and we will grow the Zambian economy,” he said.
President Hichilema also said this will also ease the movements of goods not only from Zambia and Malawi but also from wider areas, such as Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Tanzania among others.
He has further called for the need to address the issue of roadblocks without compromising on security.
