Government has approved the recommendations to make upward adjustments for minimum wages for domestic workers, shop workers and employees covered under the general order among others.
Labor Minister Brenda Tambatamba announced the new minimum wages in Lusaka, during a press briefing.
She said the approved new wages follows consultations and recommendations by key stakeholders and consultative labor council to revise minimum wages for employees as well as the working conditions.
Ms. Tambatamba said the new adjustment of minimum wages announced are only applicable to vulnerable categories of employees and do not extend to the unionized employees.
She further implored employees and employers covered under new minimum wages to exercise patience as government will finalize the process to revise minimum wages.
