The Non-governmental Gender Organizations’ Coordinating Council (NGOCC) is saddened by the increased cases of GBV in the country as evidenced by the number of incidences reported by the Victim Support Unit (VSU) almost on a daily basis.
NGOCC Board Chairperson Grace M. Sinkamba said according to the Zambia Police, a 42-year-old man of Lusaka’s Mtendere Compound has died after he was allegedly beaten by his wife.
Ms. Sinkamaba wondered what has gone wrong in our society for spouses who love each other to turn into villains and begin to kill their beloved ones.
She stated that NGOCC condemns any form of violence whether perpetrated by a woman, man, girl, or boy.
Ms. Sinkamaba called on all stakeholders to unite and fight Gender Based Violence (GBV) in all its forms.
“As we start a new year, we therefore call upon all stakeholders to unite and rigorously address this scourge which without doubt has negative effects on our society,” she said.
