The National Union 0f Public and Private Educators of Zambia NUPPEZ has condemned the suspension of the debt swap scheme for civil servants by the government noting that it is illegal.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with one love radio NUPPEZ Executive President Victor Muyoma says the debt swap scheme is part of the collective agreement, which is a legal document that cannot be abrogated unilaterally.
“The debt swap scheme is now part of the collective agreement, and the collective agreement is a legal document that cannot be abrogated unilaterally”. He said
He has appealed to the government to maintain the debt swap stating that if there is any alternative, it should come via dialogue.
He has also appealed to the civil servants to remain calm, as the union is doing everything possible to ensure that the debt swap is maintained.
“Civil servants should remain calm because as unions we are doing everything possible to ensure that the debt swap is maintained”. He added
