NUPPEZ WELCOMES IDEA TO CUT OFF THOSE ABOVE 45 IN TEACHER RECRUITMENT EXERCISE.

The National Union of Public and Private Educators of Zambia NUPPEZ has welcomed the move by the Ministry of Education to cut off those above 45 in the teacher recruitment exercise

NUPPEZ President Victor Muyumba said the Ministry of Education and Teaching service commission should have explained the reason as to why the teachers above 45 will not be considered in the teacher recruitment exercise.

Mr. Muyumba said this job is not contractual but permanent and pensionable therefore it is mandatory that when one is recruited is also contributing to NAPSA.

Mr. Muyumba said the rationale behind this is that pension is supposed to be given to somebody according to the act, who has contributed not less than 15 years and that retirement being at 60 means people above 45 do not qualify.

He advised those that have been disqualified to work in the private sector where there are contractual jobs.

“Even the advert when it come out it was very clear that those above 45 are not eligible and no body complained,” he said.
