The National Action for Quality Education in Zambia NAQEZ has welcomed government‘s plans to introduce smart phones and Tablets in schools for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) lessons.
Speaking in an interview NAQEZ Executive Director Aaron Chansa said that the gargets are useful to research and also to learn other aspects of education.
Mr. Chansa further proposed that the gadgets only be used strictly for educational purposes once in schools.
Meanwhile a parent from within Lusaka Ms. Mayase Ngoma also welcomed the move stating that it will enable quality education among learners.
Ms. Ngoma Stated that this is a move in a right direction as the country is currently undergoing the digital era.
“This is an added advantage to the learners as they will advance in technology,” she said.
And another parent Ms. Brenda Zulu has opposed the move stating that it will destroy the children as it will bring too much exposure to bad sites that might lead them to explicit content.
Education Minister Douglas Siakalima recently announced in Parliament that government is considering the introduction of smart phones and Tablets in schools for Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
