PRESIDENT HICHILEMA LAUDED FOR NEW APPOINTMENTS IN THE ZAMBIA POLICE.

The United States has applauded President Hakainde Hichilema’s appointment of new leadership to the Zambian Police Service.

According to a statement issued to One Love Radio News by U.S. Embassy Zambia public affairs officer Phill Dimon, the U.S sated that the move presents the opportunity to reinforce impartiality in the application of the rule of law and accountability for criminal offenses, while equally upholding the protection of public safety, constitutional rights, and freedoms.

It stated that, by redoubling responsiveness to society’s need for security, the new Zambian Police Service can engender greater public trust.

The U.S also said that   through strict accountability –from countering violent cadreism, to ending the impunity of traffic police who implore bribes, to fighting corruption broadly within its ranks, Zambian Police Service’s next chapter can directly benefit all Zambians.
