The Lusaka City Council has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Suwon City Government of the Republic of Korea, the World Toilet Association and Ukadzipalile Integrated Project on the construction of a public toilet at Lusaka’s Chibolya Market.
LCC Public Relations Officer Emmanuel Lupikisha said the MoU will see the Suwon City Government provide Ukadzipalile Integrated Project through World Toilet Association a sum of 35,000 USD to facilitate construction and installation of a public toilet at the market, while LCC will provide land on which the Toilet will be built.
Mr. Lupikisha said the need to improve sanitation facilities in public areas especially in markets which have an influx of people has been observed; hence the construction of the ablution block is a major milestone.
“The Council thanks the Suwon City Government of the Republic of Korea, The World Toilet Association and Ukadzipalile Integrated Project for supplementing governments’ efforts in providing adequate sanitation facilities in our markets in the city”, he said
