President Hakainde Hichilema says government is committed at revamping the mining sector for increased investment and sustainable economic growth.
President Hichilema said the return of Vedanta Resources Limited into Zambia’s Mining sector is key at ensuring growth of the mining sector as it will benefit the economy and Zambians at large, through job creation and increased copper production among others.
The President said the steps taken to resume operations at the Konkola Kopper Mines KCM were very necessary and will be extended to other Mines across the Country, adding that his government remains committed to addressing challenges faced by Artisanal and Small-Scale Miners.
Speaking during his address to mark official opening of the third session of the National Assembly, the President said mineral exploration is key in ensuring increased output and production, and mapping of Zambia’s precious minerals.
