The Southern African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) has welcomed the move taken by former president Edger Chagwa Lungu to step down as patriotic front PF party president.
SACCORD executive director Boniface Cheembe said this move gives dignity and honor to the office of the president and will allow the former ruling party to reorganize and find a befitting leader for the party.
speaking in an exclusive interview with one love radio news on Monday, Mr. Cheembe also said Mr. Lungu’s resignation is a right step as it will take away perceptions and rumors that he is still party president.
” His stay was sending a wrong signal or message to the PF political competitors, that he was still in active politics and he will jeopardize his benefits, now this will take away any rumors and perceptions that he is involved in active politics, it allows the former ruling party to reorganize themselves and find another leader“, he said.
