The Small Scale Farmers’ Development Agency SAFADA is appealing to the new down Government to restructure the Ministry of Agriculture and the entire government machinery if Zambia is to fix its economy.
SAFADA Chief Executive Officer Boyd Moobwe said the current political and government system is corrupt and there is too much corruption that has alluded to high levels of poverty in the country.
“The high levels of poverty in the country are maintained above 50% both in urban and rural areas for the past 40 years because of the prevailing social exclusion and poor economic empowerment plans, policies and programs,” he said.
Mr. Moobwe added that SAFADA is geared to work with Government through the Ministry of Agriculture but unfortunately the ministry is not active to respond to local potential projects.
