The Seventh Day Adventist Church has described as unfortunate the 6 deaths recently recorded in Lake Kariba, a situation they feel could have been avoided.
Reacting to concerns by members of the public over the continued occurrence of such deaths during camp meetings, Lusaka Conference of the Seventh Day youth director Billy Munkombo said, the matter surrounding the deaths is as a result of not following stipulated guidelines in Camp.
Mr. Munkombo told one love radio news that the Church has order and discipline, adding that such camps are meant to to ensure spiritual enlightenment, sensitization on entrepreneurship and health among others.
“We will avoid having possible camps near water going forward as a measure to curb such incidents, I was there at the camp in Siavonga on Wednesday, and I warned the young people not to swim not to go in the water alone and to follow the programing of the camp, and on Saturday the young people went and did what they did unfortunately” he said.
Meanwhile burial for the deceased is set for Wednesday the 5th of January 2022 at Mutumbi cemetery.
