Stop political violence- Zambia Police

Zambia Police has advised citizens in the country to refrain from political violence as elections as slowly looming.

This is in light of the recent political violence that took place in Kaoma on the 6th October, 2019 where opposition UPND party cadres clashed with ruling PF party cadres leaving one dead and others injured.

Zambia Police Public Relations Officer Esther Mwaata Katongo said the police reiterate the earlier call by the Inspector General of Police that all leaders of campaign teams for all Political Parties taking part in the Kaoma by-election should take up responsibility of ensuring  that their cadres avoid any form of violence.

She said investigations in this matter have continued to bring all perpetrators of the violence to book and that calm has returned in Kaoma as patrols have been intensified in all hotspots.

Meanwhile Zambia Police Assistant Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi told One Love Radio in Lusaka on Monday that citizens in the country should refrain from taking the law into their own hands but seek the peace the country so needs.
