TAXI DRIVERS PROTEST OVER UNFAIR FEES.

Taxi drivers have protested over low fees from taxi hailing companies, among them Yango.

The taxi drivers protested on Wednesday afternoon demanding for the Minister of Transport and Logistics Frank Tayali to address them with immediate effect, but unfortunately the Minister was not available during that time.

Online Taxi Drivers Association of Zambia members and the President Lukas Chanda during the protest said as an association they will sit down with government and ensure the issue is resolved once and for all.

And speaking on behalf of the Minister of Transport and Logistics, the Ministry’s Director for Planning and Monitoring Mr. Mbewe assured the drivers that the petition has reached the Minister and a meeting with the Ministry, driver’s representatives and the taxi hailing companies would be conducted to resolve the matter.

“The Minister is not in his office, as he is by the cabinet we have understood, but by tomorrow the Minister should give us a feed back!” he said.
