Tobacco Free Association of Zambia TOFAZA has called on government through the Ministry of Health to put in more sensitization efforts on the impact of tobacco to the kidneys.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with One Love Radio news on Monday, association executive director Brenda Chitindi emphasized the need for the Ministry of Health to also advocate on the risk factors of tobacco use through sensitization programs.
She said this is one way of creating awareness among people and reduce cases of kidney disease in the country.
“Smoking is very harmful to the kidney and mostly it causes kidney diseases, the Ministry of Health should come up with proper programs to conduct awareness of these risk factors such as tobacco, to prevent these diseases, “she said.
Ms. Chitindi further wondered why the Tobacco control bill has taken so long to be enacted and pushed to parliament.
