Democratic Party DP has expressed concern on government’s stance to pay workers at Indeni petroleum refinery after the company is restructured.

This follows Governments announcement through the minister of finance Situmbeko Musokotwane that workers at Indeni will be paid their money once the transition period of the company is put in place.

DP Eastern province chairperson Denton Njobvu told one love radio in an exclusive interview that it is sad that about 3hundred workers won’t be paid their money all in the name of restructuring.

Mr. Njobvu said it is important to put politics aside and look at the workers’ livelihoods and their families, further stating that there is no need for them to be subjected to become destitute all because of a transitioning at Indeni.

“Through Indeni we could have imported crude oil at a cheaper price, process it and we could have removed the middle men they are serving as a huge cost to the tax payers money, let’s have a human face these are just politics the 300 workers should not be subjected to become destitutes in the name of restructuring let us look after them”, he said.
