The United Party for National Development (UPND) said sponsored thugs planning to manhandle and calling for the removal of party Secretary General Batuke Imenda are offside as they do not understand the party constitution.
Speaking in Lusaka UPND Lusaka District Information and Publicity Secretary Matomola Likwanya said the planned protest by UPND youths in Lusaka and across signifies that those involved do not understand the structure and constitution of the party.
Mr. Likwanya said the current SG has performed according to the expectation of the party leadership adding that those against Mr Imenda do not mean well for the party.
Meanwhile Mr Likwanya charged that president Hakainde Hichilema must fire all civil servants aligned with the former ruling party the Patriotic Front (PF).
He said the current civil service is flooded with PF cadres who must be fired in order to create space for UPND members who have not been deployed yet.
“We must therefore call for the firing of all PF aligned individuals that are serving in government positions,” he said.
