The Zambia Meteorological Department ZMD says the country will continue to record high temperatures ranging between 38°C and 43°C especially in low lying areas.
The department said this is due to a deep continental low-pressure system which is currently positioned over South Africa.
ZMD said in its latest Weather Advisory that these high temperatures are expected to continue up to 29th October 2023.
The general public has since been advised to keep cool, stay hydrated by drinking a lot of fluids and avoiding strenuous outdoor exercise.
Farmers have also been urged to practice mulching to avoid excessive evaporation, as well as intensify irrigation and regular supply of fresh water in the fish ponds to meet the oxygen demand.
