Lusaka province chairperson Paul Moonga has dismissed allegations that he was among the people that attacked opposition PeP party leader Sean Tembo.
Speaking on the Hot FM breakfast show Mr. Moonga said he had a strong defense to show that he was not on Cairo road where the incident happened.
He further demanded Mr. Tembo to show proof for his malicious and criminal defamation.
Now on Thursday opposition Patriots for Economic Progress PeP President Sean Tembo and some of his party members were attacked by some unknown persons and 2 alleged patriotic front party officials as they were holding their protest against the 42 million dollars fire tender scandals.
“For me I was attacked by PF Lusaka province acting Chairman Paul Moonga and Reuben Banda a well know PF cadre and another man I failed to identify as he had sprinkled white powder on his face. These thugs hacked me twice on the head with a machete”. He said.
The thugs are said to have gone away with the victim’s k8, 300, ATM bank cards, driving licenses etc.
“I am giving Paul Moonga a 72 hour ultimatum to return the items he stole and compensate the injured person’s let me state further that as Pep will do whatever it takes to fight for justice and continue with the 42 million dollars fire tenders protest”.
Meanwhile the Zambia police service has said that Mr. Tembo did not heed the police advice to halt the protests as police had other duties hence could not provide protection to the Pep party members.
Police acting spokesperson Danny Mwale has called on the Pep leader and any other persons to assist them with information of people they suspect of attacking them in order for them to be brought to book.
