The Zambia chamber of Commerce and Industry ZACCI has welcomed the introduction of the Small and Medium Enterprises Ministry noting that it will help SMEs to develop.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with one love radio news ZACCI Chief Executive Officer Phill Daka says SMEs are the backbone of every economy and account for a huge chunk of the GDP of every economy as well as employment creation.
“For us to be seen as the country that is contributing to the ministry via action oriented strategies, this is the time to make sure that the solidification of growing SMEs is done under the announcement of this ministry”. He said
He says the ministry should also have a specific mandate that sticks to promoting SMEs and implement specific policies that stick to creating an enabling environment for SMEs to meet challenges whether locally and internationally in terms of competitiveness.
“We need to make sure that these policies that will be pronounced under that ministry stimulate productivity and economic growth of the SMEs sector”. He added
