Government says the Zambia remains committed to attaining universal health coverage by 2030.
This follows Government’s recognition that good health is a means for development. Therefore, access to basic health services (including adolescent health friendly services) should be a human right in Zambia.
In line with the UPND Manifesto, government said it wants to transform the health care delivery system to focus on prevention without necessarily opposing the curative side.
Speaking during the lunch of 2022 – 2026 National Community Health Strategy & The 2022 – 2026 Adolescent Health Strategic Plan, Minister of health Silvia Masebo said that to achieve the afore mentioned, the Department of Public Health and Research, through the Community and Adolescent Health Units must rise to the occasion and ensure that basic community and adolescent health services reach the intended beneficiaries.
The Minister reiterated that community health is the corner stone for delivering an integrated community primary health care approach.
Ms. Masebo further added that the documents being launched speak to the recently launched Eighth National Developed Plan, which is the principal document guiding Zambia’s development agenda.
