Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Engineer Charles Milupi has held bilateral talks with the Government of Egypt in Nairobi, Kenya where he is attending the second session of the United Nations (UN) Habitat Assembly.
Egyptian Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Professor. Eng. Assem Elgazzar addressed critical areas of interest pertaining to the various approaches Egypt has used in the provision of mass and affordable housing.
Professor. Eng. Assem Elgazzar, stated that Egypt has huge experience in physical planning and designing and that it has in the last seven (7) years collaborated with many African countries including Tanzania and Ethiopia.
He further noted how the rapid annual increase in population has led the Egyptian government to develop settlements to provide accommodation and upgrade most community settlements within 8 years.
“These developments in the construction of mass housing and other infrastructure, has led to the provision of good transport networks as these settlements require linkages to social amenities and other social and economic services” the Minister said.
And Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development, Eng. Charles Milupi, MP said the successes demonstrated by Egypt in Infrastructure and mass housing development was commendable and that Zambia was ready to collaborate with the Egyptian Government not only in Infrastructure and Housing but other sectors as well such as Health, Agriculture, Energy and many more.
Eng. Charles Milupi said this on the sidelines of the United Nations Habitat Assembly which officially opened on Monday 5th June, 2023 and will officially close today Friday 9th June, 2023 in Nairobi, Kenya.
