The Ministry of Health says the District Rapid Response teams supported by Provincial Health Offices are urgently responding to try and control, and break transmission of Cholera recorded in the country.
Minister of Health Sylvia Masebo said in accordance with the National Multi-sectoral Plan, response activities include Activation of the District Public Health Emergency Operations Centers and Incident Management System.
She said the ministry has Intensified surveillance activities including active case search and contact tracing as well as Enhanced Risk Communication and Community sensitization activities to control the disease.
Ms. Masebo further encouraged Zambians to maintain a clean environment and high personal hygiene to avoid an upsurge of cholera.
“Zambia remains at risk of similar outbreaks beyond the currently affected districts, considering the ongoing cholera outbreak in neighboring countries that started in March 2022,” he said.
The Ministry of Health on Thursday announced that Zambia has recorded a Cholera outbreak in Vubwi District of Eastern Province with 4 confirmed cases, 7 suspected cases and one (1) death.
